Dr El-Dessouky is a Senior Research Fellow in FRP Composites at University of Sheffield-AMRC with Boeing. He received his BSc, MSc, PhD degrees in Physics from Mansoura University, Egypt. He has over 20 years’ experience in multidisciplinary areas of research include Fibres, Polymers, Nano-additives, Technical textiles and FRP Composites. Since 1999, he published 45 papers in high quality international journals and conferences. He had a patent on novel spread tow prepreg for thermoplastic composite applications. He had 3 book chapters on textiles treatment and composites manufacturing. He is a reviewer and an editorial board member for many journals in the field. He is a member of SAMPE, Fibre Society and IOM3-British Composite Society. From 2013 to date at the University of Sheffield AMRC with Boeing, Dr El-Dessouky have established the thermoplastic and dry fibre processing facility including 3D weaving for composite preforming applications. From 2006 to 2013, he worked for University of Leeds as a research fellow on different research projects on polymer fibre spinning, nanocomposites and FRP composites. From 1996 to 2006, he was heavily involved in teaching physics modules for under- and post-graduates at Mansoura University in Egypt. Dr El-Dessouky have received research funding over £1.5m.
